Nobel Prize in medicine goes to trio for their work on immune tolerance

The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi “for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance.”

The research provided insights into keeping the immune system under control to fight microbes and avoid autoimmune diseases. This is the 116th medicine prize. The prestigious award was announced on Monday (Oct. 6) by the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.
